Using video is very effective when attracting and engaging new talent. 55% of people watch videos online every day, and over 50% of marketers say video is the type of content with the best ROI.

Good recruitment marketing video content shows candidates what it’s really like to work at a  company. This can result in better culture fits from applicants. And when a candidate can really picture themselves working at a company, they’re closer to closing.

For some talent acquisition professionals and recruitment marketers, video is a new frontier. Don’t be intimidated. Here at Stories Inc., we have created more than 100 recruitment marketing videos that are performing well for our clients. In this 5 part series, we will help get you started!

When deciding how to host your recruitment marketing videos there are two main routes to take; hosting natively or hosting using a third party website like Vimeo or YouTube. Hosting a video natively on your website works well in some cases, but I’d almost always recommend using a third party hosting site. Third party sites can provide you with detailed analytics, give you the ability to easily download copies of your videos, and in some cases, increase the chance of your video being found via a search engine like Google.

My preferred hosting website is Vimeo (although YouTube is a good option, too). Vimeo accepts videos up to 4K quality. They also provide users with the ability to fully customize who can view each video, where the videos are embedded, whether or not the videos can be downloaded, and create sleek-looking closed captioning for their videos. On top of all this, Vimeo provides extensive analytics such as who watched each video on what date, whether or not each viewer finished watching the video, and how many comments or likes were left on the video each day (see below). These analytics are displayed in an easy-to-read line chart that makes tracking trends a breeze.

All of this seems like a lot to consider when creating a short 1-2 minute video, but taking the time to pay attention to seemingly small details can take a recruitment marketing video to the next level. Following these 5 video basics for recruitment marketing is a great step in the right direction for those who are new to this type of content, but it is not meant to be a universal template for creating perfect recruitment marketing videos. Each video should and will be unique and will present its own set of challenges along the way. Remaining adaptable and allowing each video to take on its own personality is essential to creating great recruitment marketing videos.
